Bette Midler Shares Fake News Attacking Trump, He Fires Back Hard

Singer and movie star Bette Midler shared fake news on President Donald Trump and he tore her to shreds for it.

The star shared a fake quote attributed to President Trump from a 1998 People Magazine story that has been shared on the Internet for a long time.

“If I were to run, I’d run as a Republican. They’re the dumbest group of voters in the country. They believe anything on Fox News. I could lie and they’d still eat it up. I bet my numbers would be terrific,” the quote said.

It is not tough to do a search on the Internet to find that President Trump never said that and that the quote is fake.

Fans of the star, and detractors, told her that the quote was fake and she offered a half hearted apology for sharing the fake news.

“I apologize; turns out to be a fake from way back in ’15-16,” she said. “Don’t know how I missed it, but it sounds SO much like him that I believed it was true!”

President Trump and his fans were not impressed by her apology, in which she linked to a fact check on the quote, and he shredded her.

Is Trump Derangement Syndrome a real thing?

“Washed up psycho @BetteMidler was forced to apologize for a statement she attributed to me that turned out to be totally fabricated by her in order to make ‘your great president’ look really bad.

“She got caught, just like the Fake News Media gets caught. A sick scammer!” the president said in a tweet on Tuesday.
