[ Editor’s Note: I would have titled this comedy routine something other than Hello Douchebags as I don’t need that image on a Sunday morning, and there were many other suitable terms available. But that said, I understand the urge for comedians to play Mr. Bad boy, particularly when they have a live audience that claps at all the right times when the laugh light goes on.

But it is a colorful and interesting list, and maybe it is time for the rest of us to take the time to say that we know who they are, even if we do not live in their district. After all we have been through, we have to ponder how we are going to treat those that will be seeking support in Congress from the Capitol coupmeisters.

And by that I don’t just mean donating money to their primary opponents. The first option open for us is to see what their exposure level is for being censured by Congress, as we have staff to do that, theoretically. And that will require putting their feet in the fire with contacting campaigns and whatever other tools that are available to us.

We can’t really mail or email the targets, or else we will just get hit with endless campaign donation solitications.

But yes, Josh Hawley is in the number one spot with Ted Cruz close behind, followed by all those in the House, 140 I think it was, who voted not to certify the election after the attack on the Capitol. Even if we have a long shot at winning, it is a battle that must be fought for posterity.

Should we lose, then maybe a discussion of Congress having complete control over their own rules should be given a new look. Why shouldn’t the public have some say on how things are run in the Senate, as it affects us all?

What would need to be changed if that were legally the case now? If changes can be made, I think we will never get another opportunity like this, after what just happened. This is a watershed moment…Jim W. Dean ]
