A California high school student reportedly served cookies baked with her grandmother’s ashes to unsuspecting classmates — a morbid ruse now under police investigation.
Davis Police Lt. Paul Doroshov told Fox News investigators are looking at two students at Da Vinci Charter Academy High School in Davis, Calif., who allegedly carried out the ghoulish act.
Affiliate Fox 40 reported one student claimed the culprit bragged that she handed out the cookies baked with her grandma’s ashes two weeks ago.
“This girl is going around telling everyone, basically at this point, that she had brought in these cookies to school with human ashes in them,” the unnamed student told Fox 40.
His parents complained that after administrators questioned their son, he was told “not to tell anyone,” the affiliate reported.
Doroshov told Fox News roughly nine students ate the cookies.
Da Vinci Charter Academy Principal Tyler Millsap released a statement on Tuesday saying the “safety and well-being” of the students was his first priority — and that there was “no health risk.”
No arrests were made by Tuesday, but Doroshov figuring out charges may be a problem.
“What’s the crime?” he said, Fox News reported.
