Will Donald Trump Win the 2020 Election?
Voters in the most hotly contested districts around the nation say their midterm votes count as much — or more — as they do in a presidential election, a new poll showed Sunday.
The CBS News Battleground Tracker, conducted by YouGov, found 26 percent of respondents think the midterms Tuesday matter more than the presidential election, while 67 percent say it matters just as much.
In a breakdown by party, 34 percent of Democrats say their midterm votes matter more than a presidential election, while 16 percent of Republicans say that.
The poll also found 55 percent of Democrats would be angry if the other party wins, while 35 percent of Republicans say they would be mad if Democrats won.
In other findings, the survey found:
- 71 percent of Democrats say their vote is more about stopping things from happening, while 69 percent of Republicans said theirs is motivated by things they want to happen.
- Seven in 10 voters say their vote will be about President Donald Trump; among that group, however, 34 percent say they will vote for him and 38 percent say they will vote against him.
The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus 1.6 percent.
