Chicago Cops Spend Holiday Weekend Busting Social Distancing Violators While City Has Highest Murder Toll in 5 Years

This Memorial Day weekend Chicago Police were busy chasing after social distancing violators all across the city while at the same time Chicago experienced it’s highest murder rate in 5 years.

It’s clear that law enforcement in the progressive paradise known as Chicago is hard at work focused on the important things.

Like breaking up political rallies and parties, as CBS Chicago reports:

On Monday, there was a Memorial Day rally at Buckingham Fountain calling for an end to the Illinois stay-at-home order. Police eventually had to step in a to break it up.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Chicago police said they respect First Amendment rights, but the rally posed a public health risk.

On Sunday night in Englewood, two officers were injured trying to break up a large gathering near 70th and Lowe. …

Chance the Rapper tweeted his concern over police not responding to crowds gathered in North Side areas like Millennium Park.

“Please stop sending large groups of militarized police into our neighborhoods exclusively,” he said in the tweet.

Police also made sure churches stayed shutdown:

Meanwhile Chicago experienced the most deadly Memorial Day weekend in five years, with 8 killed and 24 wounded Fox 8 Chicago reports:

Despite dips in recent years in gun violence and the sanctioned stay-at-home orders, Chicago saw its deadliest Memorial Day weekend in four years.
At least eight people were fatally shot over the weekend and 24 were injured in shootings as of Monday afternoon, according to Chicago Police data reviewed by CNN.

Last year, there were at least five people killed over the Memorial Day weekend, down from at least six fatalities in 2018, 2017 and 2016, according to Chicago police and our sister-station WGN.

An update to the local Fox News report shows that the death toll from the holiday weekend rose to 10.

So while police were busy breaking up political rallies, closing churches, breaking up parties and generally harassing law abiding citizens for exercising their rights, the real criminals were hard at work creating havoc.

Wonder how long it will take the city’s Democrat mayor to blame Trump for this and demand more gun control?
