Chick-Fil-A Foundation Gives Dramatically More to Leftist Causes, Drops Some Christian Orgainzations

This week the Chick-Fil-A Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Christian owned restaurant chain that has haunted liberals, finally gave way and capitulated to the leftist rage mob.

The foundation decided it would no longer be giving to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and The Salvation Army.

“Our goal is to donate to the most effective organizations in the areas of education, homelessness and hunger. No organization will be excluded from future consideration – faith based or non-faith based,” COO Tim Tassopoulos said.

But many fans of the franchise believe it is the first step in the company stopping its giving to Christian organizations to grow its business.

“We suspect Chick-fil-A’s despisers will be emboldened rather than satisfied, and don’t be surprised to hear demands that the company must now support causes the left holds dear. All in the name of tolerance and diversity,” The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board said in a piece.

And it has now been discovered that the man who is in charge of the Chick-Fil-A Foundation which oversees its giving has been donating all along to Democrat politicians.

Rodney Bullard, who began his tenure in 2011, personally donated to the presidential campaigns of Hillary Clinton and former President Obama, Fox News reported.

“We don’t want our intent and our work to be encumbered by someone else’s politics or cultural war. If something gets in the way of our mission, that is something that we are mindful of and cognizant of,” Bullard said of its decision to stop funding these organizations that do not support a pro-LGBT agenda.

Bullard donated $1,000 to support Clinton in 2016 and appears to have donated $1,000 to support Obama in 2008. FEC records from 2016 identify Bullard as a Chick-fil-A employee, while the 2008 records list “military” as employer — something that matches with Bullard’s stint at the Pentagon from 2006 to 2009, according to his LinkedIn.

Is Chick-Fil-A caving to Democrats?

Chick-fil-A hasn’t ruled out donating to organizations that promote traditional marriage as LGBTQ rights groups continue to express doubts about the chain.

Chick-fil-A, which operates about 2,400 restaurants, was taking heat from gay rights supporters, which has impeded some of its growth efforts.

Earlier this year, airports in Buffalo, New York and San Antonio blocked the restaurant from opening at their sites because of the company’s record on gay rights. Some college campuses have banned the chain, while students at an Oregon high school walked out of classes last week, in part to protest the presence of a Chick-fil-A food truck at home football games, citing the company’s donations to the anti-gay marriage charities.

“We serve more than 23 million individuals a year, including those in the LGBTQ+ community,” The Salvation Army, who will no longer receive funds from the chain, said.

“In fact, we believe we are the largest provider of poverty relief to the LGBTQ+ population. When misinformation is perpetuated without fact, our ability to serve those in need, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or any other factor, is at risk,” it said.

In 2011 CEO Dan Cathy stood firm in his Christian faith, which began the attacks from liberals and the LGBT community.

“[We are] based on biblical principles, asking God and pleading with God to give us wisdom on decisions we make about people and the programs and partnerships we have. And He has blessed us,” he said then.

But what is Christian about some of the organizations that the Chick-Fil-A Foundation think deserves its funding more than these Christian groups?

TownHall reported that Chick-Fil-A has been giving to “the DC-based New Leaders Council that identifies as a ‘hub of progressive millennial thought leadership’ which exists to ‘support one another along their individual path to a more progressive political and cultural landscape.’”

Chick-fil-A has given a sizable donation ($50k) to The Pace Center for Girls, yet another pro-abortion organization. The education and advocacy group featured radical pro-abortion feminist Gloria Steinem (the “I Had An Abortion” activist who declared that birthing children is the “fundamental cause of climate change”) as their keynote speaker for their most recent girls’ Summit.

Or, how about Usher’s New Look, R&B star Usher Raymond IV’s liberal non-profit? The group’s Disruptivator Summit is all about progressive community organizing on pivotal social issues, and Chick-fil-A funds it ($38,700 in 2017).

Chick-fil-A also gives tens of thousands to Chris 180 ($27,500 in 2017, $25k in 2019), a pro-LGBT behavioral health and child welfare service agency. The organization boasts of being awarded the “Leader in Supporting and Serving LGBT Families and Youth from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC).” Nothing promotes human degradation quite like the pro-abortion HRC—the multi-million dollar LGBT powerhouse that recently pushed for the legalization of prostitution in D.C.

It appears that Chick-Fil-A has decided that making more profits, and joining the fraternity of leftist tilting major companies, is now more important than affirming its Christian values.
