In nearly every case of a black male being shot and killed by police officers in America, most of the mainstream media immediately deploys a narrative that paints a picture of the victim being a loving, contributing member of society who was nothing more than the innocent victim of violent, racist police officers.
The same thing happened with Walter Wallace Jr., who was recently shot and killed by police after allegedly coming at them with a knife. Like many others before him, Wallace wasn’t exactly an angel — actually he was nowhere close.
While his death is undoubtedly tragic and should never have to happen, it certainly wasn’t due to cops who just woke up that morning and decided to end an American citizen’s life based on their skin color. Wallace, according to The Blaze, had a long and disturbing criminal history.
In 2013, Wallace was arrested for punching a police officer in the face and eventually pleaded guilty to charges of assault and resisting arrest. In that same year, he also assaulted his own mother, who actually had a restraining order against him. Wallace not only “threw water in her face and punched her in the face” but also threatened to shoot her.
Fast-forward to 2017, when Wallace arrested on a long list of charges after kicking down a woman’s door before putting a gun to her head. That incident added more assault charges to his growing criminal record, and included charges related to the gun and charges for robbery. That incident even landed him a prison sentence.
While the aforementioned information should be enough for anyone to deduce that this guy was a known problem for law enforcement, in 2019 he was arrested again for “kicking the windows and door panels of a police patrol car.”
He has also been in police trouble for issuing death threats to the mother of his child.
Sadly, it turns out that Wallace was mentally ill. His family indicated that he suffered from bipolar. However, as much as the liberal media and Democrats want you to believe that mentally ill people should automatically be forgiven for crimes, that’s just simply not how things work.
His mental health status doesn’t excuse him from being caught committing violent crimes. Though he was previously ordered to take a psychiatric evaluation, it’s on him and his family at that point to seek help for his mental health issues — help he obviously never received.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that his mental health status combined with his apparent propensity for crime would ultimately lead to his death — that’s always an increased risk and a probable outcome for hardened criminals.
Again, it’s important to repeat that Wallace’s death was absolutely tragic and in an ideal situation, he would have simply complied with the police officers’ repeated requests to stand down. But he didn’t and he paid for that grave mistake with his life.
Sadly, in the meantime, the mainstream media will continue to exploit the situation to bolster their anti-police narrative — a narrative that continues to threaten the safety and security of law-abiding, American citizens by sparking new rounds of destructive riots.
