Dr. Fauci Goes All In, Opposes Re-Opening Bars ‘We Need to Double Down’ on Covid Countermeasures

During an interview this morning on ‘Good Morning America’ Dr. Anthony Fauci claimed the American people need to double down on covid countermeasures saying full reopening of bars and restaurants like in Florida is the wrong thing to do:

Dr. Fauci clearly does not realize what country he lives in.

We are Americans and we not public health figures decide what we can and cannot do.

The minute the majority of Americans refuse to live in lockdown any longer, the minute this horrible nightmare is over.

That said, it of course makes obvious sense to take reasonable precautions against covid but each person in this country gets to decide what risk he or she is willing to take, not people like Dr. Anthony Fauci.

The Fauci’s of the world would have us in perpetual lockdown but thankfully he only gets to recommend and not dictate.

If Biden wins in November expect that to change.

Partial transcript:

ROBACH: “I’m curious with all that you just said and where we are now as a nation, what do you make of Florida’s decision to ease the restrictions opening up bars and restaurants?”

FAUCI: “Well that is very concerning to me. I mean, we have always said that, myself and Dr. Deborah Birx, who’s the coordinator of the task force, that that’s something we need to be careful about.

Because when you’re dealing with community spread and you have the congregate setting where people get together particularly without masks you’re asking for trouble.

Now is the time to double down. And I don’t mean close.

When I say that, people get concerned we’re talking about shutting down. We’re not talking about shutting anything down.

We’re talking common sense public type of health measures that we’ve been talking about all along.”

ROBACH: “Yeah. So we’re not in great shape to be heading into these colder months. You said no one is talking about a shutdown. But what would it take for you to actually or eventually advocate for one again?”

FAUCI: “You know, I really would like to not go there because it causes so many collateral issues and problems. And when people see that, you know, they are exhausted from that and they are pushing back.

So I mean, obviously if things really explode, you’d have to consider that but we want to do everything we possibly can to avoid an absolute shutdown.

In other words, get the cases under control by the common sense types of things that we’ve been talking about all along, those public health measures.”
