Former Obama AG Eric Holder, Chuck Schumer Urge Democrats To Pack The Courts Including The Supreme Court

Eric Holder, Attorney General under the Obama Administration, spoke at a virtual seminar hosted by the Brookings Institution about court reform.

The Daily Wire reports that “Former Attorney General Eric Holder urged Democrats to ‘use the power’ of their U.S. Senate majority to pack the Supreme Court and the federal judiciary.”

During the virtual seminar, Holder said, “It is painfully clear Democrats and progressives are uncomfortable with the acquisition and use of power, while Republicans and conservatives never have been.” He continued, “Our courts badly need reforms.”

Eric Holder lives in an alternate reality where Republicans are responsible for the power grabs and stepping all over our Constitution and Democrats are the meek lambs being run all over. Eric’s evidence is that President Trump managed to nominate three Conservative Supreme Court Justices.

Chuck Schumer is in an active power grab. In an interview with Maddow, Schumer said: “Traditionally, we have increased the number in the lower and circuit courts. I have in the city of Buffalo a huge — they don’t have enough judges. There’s this long line before you can get to court. Because they don’t have enough. So, we could expand those, relative –.”

Holder said the court system has become “political bodies” that are stacked with “ideologues who consistently reach rulings based on their stunted mindsets.” Holder believes that conservative judges that hold the Constitution in high regard when deciding cases are ruling “based on their stunted mindsets.”

Holder claims “the Republicans have abused their power to give themselves an unfair advantage,” citing the Trump administration’s historic number of judicial appointments and Mitch McConnell’s blocking of Merrick Garland. He said these appointments “sowed doubt” about the court’s judicial independence.

Eric Holder never got over Republicans successfully blocking Obama’s Supreme Court nomination, Merrick Garland. He argued if Merrick Garland were confirmed, the Democrats would be enjoying the majority and all the “progressive” decisions along with it.

Now that Democrats control Congress and the White House, Holder said that he believes “it would be totally appropriate to add additional seats to the Supreme Court, in response to what has transpired over the past few years.” Holder’s ideas on court-packing aren’t new, even though he would like you to believe this is his “clutching pearls” moment; the Daily Wire reports that “Holder has been an advocate for court-packing for quite some time.”

From the report: “In response to a question, Attorney General Holder said that given the unfairness, unprecedented obstruction, and disregard of historical precedent by Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans, when Democrats retake the majority they should consider expanding the Supreme Court to restore adherence to previously accepted norms for judicial nominations,” said Patrick Rodenbush, spokesperson for the National Democratic Redistricting Committee.

The Democrats maybe have temporary control of all the shiny offices, but the reality of their power is hitting them now. If they want to pack the Supreme Court, they’ll have to get enough Republicans to sign on to make a majority vote, or they’ll have to end the filibuster.

Neither one of these events are likely to happen, and therefore, we conservatives live on to fight another day.
