Gov. Cuomo has yet again found another reason why his state reached alarmingly high death rates, and hint it wasn’t him. Gov. Cuomo blames President Trump’s term ‘China Virus’ because his state has an enormous death toll.
Andrew Cuomo told MSNBC that “New York was the hardest hit” not because on March 25th he instructed nursing homes to take in patients with live shedding virus and allowed it to super spread with a fatal lack of personal protection equipment for those in the care homes.
Andrew Cuomo wants you to really “remember what happened here,” in New York. He says that the government’s first mistake was that President Trump kept saying, “China virus, China virus, China virus.” Cuomo continued, “It wasn’t the China virus. It was the European virus. The virus didn’t come to the United States from China. It came from Europe.”
The virus originated and spread from China. The virus made its way to America from Wuhan, China, and did not stop in Europe before making landfall.
The first reported case as originally written by the Smithsonian:
“For now, the Center for Disease Control has declared the immediate health risk the virus poses to the American public to be low. The infected patient, a man from Washington state who recently returned home from a trip to Wuhan, China, began experiencing symptoms last week, and was quickly hospitalized.”
Remember that this was written before we had any real information about the virus. The only thing the world knew for sure is that this virus came from China, not Europe.
Since the virus hit New York, the Governor has shifted blame to God, Fox News, Republican Governors of other states, President Trump, the infected patients themselves, visitors of the state nursing homes, and now a phrase. The Governor is welcome to fantasize about a different reality where he other people to blame for his utter failure as the head of his state but to his great misfortune, he doesn’t.
There are two reasons why New Yorkers died in alarming droves, and those are:
- Andrew Cuomo is a complete and utter fool.
In the last six months, while 30,000 plus people were dying from Covid, the governor of New York had time to write a narcissistic memoir detailing a bizarre fantasy land where he paints himself as the destroyer of Covid. More seniors died in New York than any other state.
It wasn’t enough for Cuomo to add a phrase to the list of things, other than him, responsible for killing New Yorkers. Nope, Andrew Cuomo now blames his terrible state economy on this phrase instead of his disastrous continued lockdowns.
He says that the “Europe virus” was why that Coronavirus “ambushed New York.” He continued, “And that’s why we had to shut down the way we did. And that’s why you see the economic numbers down for New York because we shut down.”
Cuomo then shifted his focus to the states that he said “didn’t take COVID seriously” and that those states “are seeing their cases go up.” He claims that the spikes in cases are not a “second wave” but rather “the first wave that they never came to terms with because they denied it and now you are seeing the numbers go up.”
Oh, it would be nice to be Andrew Cuomo with a pea sized brain and selective memory. He must have forgotten that even as late as the beginning of March, he, his health experts, and the mayor of his largest city begged their citizens to continue going to parades, ride the subway, and enjoy Chinatown.
While the virus was raging under the surface, he did little to prepare or stop the initial spread in the most vulnerable communities. Instead, he insisted people continue to meet up and congregate at events that drew thousands.
President Trump holds China accountable for every American death.
Every time Trump says, “China virus,” it reminds the world that all of these deaths could have been avoided if China and the WHO had done the right thing and closed down that country.
They should have sent all available data to every country at the first signs this was a super spreader capable of killing society’s most vulnerable.
Andrew Cuomo chooses to be the anti-Trump.
When President Trump recommended he close down to give our science community a chance to figure out what we were dealing with, Andrew Cuomo said Trump was overreacting.
When President Trump instructed his governors that the most vulnerable were the seniors in our community homes, Andrew Cuomo ordered those homes to take in patients no matter their Covid status.
Over 6,000 of the 30,000 New York deaths came from New York state-run nursing homes under the governor’s order. He knew from very early on that seniors were disproportionately affected by this virus. He knew about this virus’s effect on seniors and still signed the order sending the live virus directly into their home.
He took his mother out of her nursing home and moved her into a private place that would keep her safe. The families of the 6,000 seniors lost to Covid would have loved that option, but they aren’t a member of the Democrat governor’s family.
Andrew Cuomo doesn’t get to erase or change history.
His executive orders and fumbling of his response to the pandemic are to blame for the excess deaths in the state of New York.
But, not a word of praise for the President that mobilized naval hospital ships to save patients that were kept empty while hospitals were overrun.
