You know you are not good at your job when one of your colleagues, who is often on the same side as you, bashes you.

That is the position CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta finds himself in as a new book has been written that details what he is.

And what he is, ABC White House correspondent Jonathan Karl said, is “the political opposition” of President Donald Trump.

Karl teed off on Acosta in his new book, “Front Row at the Trump Show,” where he derided the grandstanding antics of Acosta.

He said that Acosta was “playing into the explicit Trump strategy of portraying the press as the opposition party,” Fox News reported.

“The surest way to undermine the credibility of the White House press corps is to behave like the political opposition,” he said. “Don’t give speeches from the White House briefing room.”

Karl spoke to The Daily Beast at a gathering for the publishing of his new book when they asked him about Acosta.

“Regarding Jim Acosta, to paraphrase Voltaire, I will defend to the death his right to report from the White House, but I have some issues with the style in which he has done so,” he said.

“We can be tough, we can call out things that are not true, we can be aggressive in our questioning, but I don’t think we should act like we are part of the resistance,” he said.

Is Jim Acosta sick in the head?

“A sub-sub theme is those of us reporters make a mistake if they appear to be too much like an opposition to the president or the resistance,” he said to the Washington Free Beacon.

“That’s not our job. We’re not the opposition party. We’re supposed to report and report aggressively on the president, on any president, but not to go over the top,” he said.

Acosta did his grandstand routine again on Monday when got into another sparring match with President Trump.

“What do you say to Americans who are upset with you over the way you downplayed this crisis over the last couple of months,” he said.

“’We have it very much under control in this country, the corona virus is very much under control in the USA it’s going to disappear, it’s like a miracle it will disappear,’” he said quoting the president.

“On March 4th (you said) ‘we have a very small number of people in this country infected, “on) March 10th ‘we’re prepared we’re doing a great job with it, it will go away just stay calm it will go away,’” he said continuing the quotes.

“What do you say to Americans will be that you got this wrong?” Acosta said, meaning he and his fans.

“I do want them to stay calm and we are doing a great job,” the president said to the snarky reporter.

“If you look at those individual statements, they’re all true stay calm it will go away you know it you know it is going away and it will go away.

“We’re gonna have a great victory and it’s people like you and CNN that say things like that that it’s why people just don’t want to listen to CNN anymore,” he said.

“You could ask a normal question. The statements I made or I want to keep the country calm I don’t want panic in the country

“I could cause panic much better than even you,” he said. “I would make you look like a minor league player but you know what I don’t want to do that.

“I want to have our country be calm and strong and fight and win and it will go away and it is incredible the job that all of these people are doing putting them all together, the job that they’re doing.

“I am very proud of the job they’re doing, that Mike Pence is doing that the task force has done that Honeywell and Procter and Gamble and Mike (Lindell) and all of these people have done.

“I’m very proud it’s almost a miracle and it is the way it’s all coming together and instead of asking a nasty snarky question like that you should ask a real question,” he said.
