A group of leftist protesters dangerously tried to block a road in order to make a political statement.
What the protesters failed to realize is that semi-trucks cannot always stop on a dime, as they quickly learned:
This truck driver is my hero. pic.twitter.com/G170czu7bo

While I personally would not classify the trucker as a hero, he did hopefully teach the protesters that what they were attempting is very, very dangerous.
You cannot usually make political points when you are dead.
You may end up voting for Democrats from the grave, but you will no longer have an active voice after getting hit by a semi.
Many on Twitter agreed:
I remember one truck driver who did stop for protestors. His name was Reginald Denny. I think every truck driver that saw what happened to him will never stop for protestors.

Did the driver do the right thing?
👏👏Great driving.
Daughter and sister of truckers.
Was always taught not to play chicken with a moving semi because they can’t stop on a dime. These protesters have no respect for people trying to do their job. Blocking a moving 18-wheeler isn’t smart.

As a truck driver, I feel bad for some of these people, cause one day, there’s not gonna be nice drivers like that that give them warning, or is paying attention, and someone’s gonna die. Nobody should stand in the way in these areas where guys are trying to do their jobs.

I’ve had to do similar up here around portland. I wont stop because antifa are violent. My 26 wheeler wins every time! I mean of course go slow but not slow enough someone can jump on the steps. Protest on the sidewalks yall.

That said there were also dissenting voices as well:
He’s a reckless driver who put pedestrians at great risk because he doesn’t agree with their protest.
My guess is if a group of kids had been crossing that driveway at that moment he would have been able to stop.
He should be cited.

That’s a form of assault. If that’s heroism, you have issues.
— Ginny Hines (Virginia) (@ginny_hines) February 16, 2020
Possibly 2nd degree murder…at the very least manslaughter if he had killed somebody.
— Joshua Falken (@HypnoKurt) February 15, 2020
That said there were vastly more people who understood the side of the driver, versus the protesters.
For safeties sake, if you want to protest do it in the sidewalk so you don’t get hurt.
What do you think? Did the driver do the right thing here?
