Marc Lotter, the former special assistant to President Donald Trump and press secretary for Vice President Mike Pence, on Thursday lashed out at the national media for selective coverage that aims to link negative news to the president and “make it look bad.”
In an interview on Newsmax TV‘s “Newsmax Now,” Lotter cited the lack of mainstream media coverage of Sen. Diane Feinstein’s, D-Calif., former staffer being a spy for China – an issue she refuted in a tweet last week — as an example of the skewed coverage.

“The national media will choose what they want to cover and if they can, tie it to President Trump — [and] if they can, make it look bad,” Lotter said.
“For Republicans, we already know that’s going to be the Democrats plan going into November, because they’re a party that has no message other than socialism and impeaching the president, raising taxes. They can’t argue about the economy. So, they’re gonna try to argue about this.”

He also lamented a social media war on conservative voices, including that of InfoWars founder Alex Jones.
“We’ve seen it time and time again, and whether they call it shadow banning or a glitch in their algorithms, it’s clear that . . . in some cases they are de-emphasizing or deleting content that they deem to be irresponsible or violating of their terms of services,” he said, calling it “the slippery road that we run on whenever you start banning speech that is unacceptable to someone’s point of view.”
“It’s a slippery slope of where do you stop,” he added. “And it is something the social media giants are going to have to take a very serious look at because conservatives know what’s going on. We see it [by] the national media already, and now we’re seeing it in social media as well.”
