Mississippi School District Says 116 Students Quarantined After 7 Test Positive for COVID-19

A school district in Mississippi said 116 students have been quarantined after six students and an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

Corinth School District, which has approximately 2,700 students, resumed in-person classes one week ago.

Since the start of school, the district has reported seven total cases – five at Corinth High School, one at the middle school, and one at the elementary school.

In a memo to families, the district said contact tracing had been completed and anyone in close contact (someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for 15 minutes or more) with those infected had been notified and instructed to quarantine for 14 days from the last known contact.

The Mississippi Department of Health on Wednesday reported 1,245 more cases of COVID-19 and 42 deaths. Total confirmed cases for the year are now 63,444, with 1,804 deaths.
