These new pics from today’s Senate Judiciary Committee meeting on Trump’s 9th Circuit Court of Appeals nominees show Democrats have, for the time being, given up on trying to stop or delay the process.
They seem to have gotten the message that they’ll be smacked down by McConnell and Grassley, so why bother:
Senate Judiciary Committee is holding a hearing this morning on two 9th Circuit nominees — Bridget Bade and Eric Miller — as well as one district court nominee, Karin Immergut (OR), and Federal Claims nominee Richard Hertling. Dems have opposed doing this during the recess…

Pretty pathetic showing consider Democrats went full lunatic just a few weeks ago over Kavanaugh:
Sen. Crapo is chairing today’s hearing (Grassley is away). Crapo just gaveled in and is introducing the two 9th Circuit nominees — he is the only senator here at the moment pic.twitter.com/gHg2GWCBv1

Shortly after, Senator Orrin Hatch entered the room:

Democrats ‘no show’ is even more surprising given their intense opposition to these nominees:
Civil rights groups oppose Eric Miller’s nomination to the 9th Circuit, noting the opposition from orgs that represent tribal govts and communities: https://t.co/cvimqxxC09 Sen. Murray said earlier this week she wouldn’t return a blue slip, accusing Rs of rushing things pic.twitter.com/sfV8VElkAD

Here is a letter that Grassley sent yesterday to Murray, saying that based on his review of what happened, it looked like the White House tried to negotiate in good faith, “but that effort was not reciprocated” (Grassley is not here today): https://t.co/H6aqhgI9p5 pic.twitter.com/DXkkXb4IYo

Somehow, even though Democrats chose not to show up, this is ALL President Trump’s fault:
At 10:19 a.m., the first panel at today’s @senjudiciary hearing was excused (it started at 10), because only 2 senators were in attendance, and only one asked questions. That’s because the Senate’s in recess, but GOP is jamming through Trump’s nominees anyway.
This is so absurd. https://t.co/28jbhEqhys

This is a sure sign Democrats have decided it’s a much better use of their time to campaign, than to make futile gestures that get them nothing.
Thank you President Trump and Mitch McConnell for standing tough in the face of Democrat’s ridiculous and relentless obstruction tactics.
