Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Proposes Idea For National Gun Sanctuary To Protect Second Amendment

With President Joe Biden in office and Democrats having control over both chambers of Congress, it’s only a matter of time before they launch their long-promised gun control efforts. It’s coming, it’s just a matter of when.

According to the Washington Examiner, there are a few Republicans who are already preparing for an onslaught of anti-gun legislation, including freshman Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who announced recently a new plan to protect Americans’ Second Amendment rights from being trampled by the left.

“Our God-given right to protect our country, ourselves, and our families shouldn’t be up for debate. I’m proud to introduce this legislation, endorsed by the American Firearms Association, that will defund the enforcement of tyrannical gun control laws,” Greene said.

Her idea of a national gun sanctuary is called the “Second Amendment Preservation Act” and it would prevent federal funds from being used for purposes that advance gun control efforts by the left. It would also hamper the ability of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives from announcing new rules, as they sometimes do.

“D.C. Democrats and the Biden administration are hell-bent on destroying our gun rights. My Second Amendment Preservation Act would cut off all funds they can use to enforce gun control on the American people,” Greene said on Thursday, in response to her efforts to fight against a bill currently being worked on by Democrats known as the “Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act.”

Greene’s proposed legislation has two key aspects to protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners, which include the following:

Cut all federal funding from implementing, enforcing, or advancing any measure, law, regulation, or guidance relating to the lawful use, purchase, sale, possession, or transportation of firearms by any citizen of the United States for fiscal year 2021.

Prohibit any federal funds from enforcing or implementing regulations or guidance issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms promulgated after Nov. 1, 2020.

Her bill is reportedly structured in the same way some states have proposed similar legislation. It is also written so that it can be debated in committees and easily added to any spending bill, which could mean that if it ever comes up for a vote, it would only take a simple majority to pass.

With Democrats bent on crushing the Second Amendment over the coming years, it’s more important than ever that Republican lawmakers begin fighting back. It sounds cliche, but it’s also more important than ever to contact your local representatives and let them know that you support Greene’s proposal.
