If the well-meaning (but ill-informed) kids and their parents who participated in the “March for Our Lives” anti-gun protests were worried that their movement would be hijacked by the left, those fears are proven correct.

The Democratic Party and others on the left have used the leaders of the movement, the movement itself and recent news about the NRA to promote their own leftist causes and candidates that have nothing to do with guns or gun safety (meaning, “gun control”).

Congressional Democrats are using the rallying cry in re-election campaigns and to attack any Republican who stands in their way.

Last month, Florida Democrat Sen. Bill Nelson admitted as much when he said: “”There’s a long way to go and that’s what these students are here for.”

Make no mistake: He was talking about their leftist agenda.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is taking part in the rallies and using it to her full advantage.

The Texas Democratic Party has an entire page for young, gun-control advocates and how they can “take action.” They even provide leftist talking points. Here are just a few:

* This can’t continue to happen. It’s time for Congress to act on common-sense gun reform.

* Americans are sick of this charade. How many more people need to lose their lives violently and needlessly before our nation comes to its senses?

* Instead of standing with 1,000’s of students across the country demanding common-sense gun reforms, Trump has chosen to stand in lockstep with the NRA and regurgitate their talking points.

* Republicans have repeatedly refused to come to the table and discuss common-sense gun reforms.

* Republicans claim they can’t talk gun reform because they don’t want to politicize tragedies, but it’s disrespectful to these children that so many of our country’s lawmakers refuse to take action and change the gun laws that allow these killings to happen.

* Democrats understand that responsible gun ownership is part of the fabric of many American communities, but realize that current laws are not enough to curtail the epidemic of gun violence.

It’s disgusting, but it’s part of the liberal playbook. Attach yourself to a cause, use people as pawns and tools to fulfill your ultimate goal: Power.
