Trump to Support “Pathway to Citizenship” For Dreamers – by Calvin Freiburger

NBC News reports that in a conference call briefing Congressional Republicans, White House adviser Stephen Miller has just outlined President Donald Trump’s latest immigration reform proposal. The details are…troubling.

The administration is calling for $25 billion in funding for the long-awaited border wall, an end to chain migration (the ability of new citizens to sponsor non-immediate relatives for entry), and an end to the diversity visa lottery. All of these are reforms to America’s dysfunctional immigration laws that conservatives have been demanding for a long time, and they would help stem the flow of future illegal immigration and address some of the current problems with our legal immigration system.

However, there’s a big red flag in what the administration is willing to agree to in exchange: a path to citizenship for 1.8 million illegal immigrants who were brought to the United States as minors. What’s most alarming is that this is more than twice the amount of people previously in contention, the approximately 700,000 people specifically protected from deportation under Barack Obama’s illegal DACA amnesty.
